Yeah they do get punished. It's just as easy to take a guy who had a down year like Decker. Also how much weight does improvement have? Gyorkos numbers could drop a few points and Tates could rise a few. Tate wins because he is now average instead of bad? Sorry man your argument here makes no sense.
that's why voting makes more sense over a point system. You can take league, level and age into account.
Voting is fine.That way everyone can interpret it in their own way. Personally,I'll take production AND improvement into consideration.

I understand your point.........but you're missing mine. This isn't about the players being rewarded for doing poorly last year........it's about message board posters being rewarded for having the smarts,or guts,to take them anyway. Either way,I'm not for a point system anyway so this discussion is moot.
